Once the capital of the Himalayan kingdom of Ladakh, Leh is dominated by the ruins of the Leh Palace. Situated at an altitude of 11,562 ft with a scenic and serene mountainous terrain, bounded by two of the world’s mightiest mountain ranges, the Great Himalaya and the Karakoram, it lies across two others, the Ladakh range and the Zanskar range. Mystical in all the spheres it covers, from nature, geography, sceneries to the modest cultures that it fosters. Dotted with stupas and crumbling mudbrick houses, the Leh Old Town is dominated by a dagger of steep rocky ridge topped by an imposing Tibetan-style palace and fort. Right from gompas to the sensational momos, the superabundance of attractions to visit makes this city make it heaven on earth.
